At First Artesia, we offer a variety of ways to get involved and fellowship with the Lord and your brothers and sisters in Christ.

Men's Ministry

Men’s Bible Study

>> Led by Pastor Rob and gathers in the Council Room every Wednesday morning from 7:30am to 8:30am

>> We switch off between studying through a book of the Bible and studying a book on Christian living/discipleship

>> The Men’s Bible Study is a great way for Christian men to meet together and learn from each other on how to be faithful leaders of their families and examples of Christ in their communities

>> For information on what the group is currently studying, please email Pastor Rob: [email protected]

Men’s Golf Day

>> Each year, the men of First Artesia host a golf outing with the men from other local CRCs and have a friendly, semi-competitive round of golf

>> This event is meant to strengthen our brotherly bond with our fellow Christian brothers

>> Check back for more information

Women's Ministry

Women’s Ministry hosts two weekly Bible studies. One that meets Tuesday mornings from 9:00 to 10:30am in the Social Hall and one that meets Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00pm in the Social Hall. Women’s Ministry is focused on strengthening the sisterhood of the women of the faith at First Artesia through fellowship, discipleship, and biblical teaching.

Women’s Tea

>> Each spring and fall, Women’s Ministry hosts a tea event where the women are encouraged to dress up in their best tea outfits and enjoy an afternoon of tea, snacks, and fellowship

>> The tea events also feature a guest speaker to encourage and edify the women in becoming women of Christ, living out the faith

Women’s History

>> In March and December, Women’s Ministry volunteers serve coffee and snacks after morning service in honor of Women’s History Month

>> In this service, they reflect the servant nature of Christ, who came to serve, not be served

Other Events

>> Women’s Ministry will occasionally host other events throughout the year, such as a Galentine’s Event in February, and other holiday events

>> For information on what the group is currently studying or information on other Women’s Ministry Events please email our Church Administrator, Kandi: [email protected]

Young Adult Ministry

Our Young Adult Community Group meets on the 2nd floor of the FAC every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8:30PM

>> The group has dinner together and fellowships with one another to grow friendships and learn how to live a Christian life from each other

>> Each discussion is led by one of the group members to ensure the topics are always relevant to issues and challenges young adults face in today’s world, and how the Word of God can teach and guide us through the difficulties of life

>> Meetings typically end with a time of prayer where members can request specific prayers from the other members

>> The Young Adult Group is overseen by Pastor John. For more information, email John. [email protected]

College Ministry

During the school year, Pastor John and a team of volunteers head to Cerritos Community College each Tuesday and Wednesday morning at 10am to host a free, open-air Bible study for the students of the campus.

>> The team spends time talking with students, fellowshipping with them, and sharing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ

>> They build relationships and invite the students to attend our church or join our other ministries/events

>> If you are interested in joining John and the team, please reach out to John at [email protected]

>> The team is typically back at the church by 12:30PM

>> John also travels to the campus on Thursdays for 1-on-1 discipleship and mentorship with the students to further build their faith

Youth Group

Our Middle and High School youth group focuses on close discipleship with Pastor John. This setting provides intentional teaching, strong biblical foundation, and personal mentorship. We look forward to welcoming more students as the Lord continues to grow this ministry.

>> Meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, from 6:30PM to 8:30PM

>> For more information, please email Pastor John at [email protected]

Cadets

The Calvinist Cadet Corps is a boy’s club for grades 1-6. Clubs all over the country meet regularly and come together on occasion for fellowship and competition.

>> Our Corp meets in partnership with Trinity CRC on Wednesdays at 7-8:30PM during the school year and is free to join

>> Our counselors and activities are all aimed at training and equipping our young boys to learn more about God and to become fine young men

>> They work on knowledge and skill badges, play games, and go on camping trips

Sunday Morning Prayer Group

First Artesia has a faithful prayer group that gathers in the Social Hall every Sunday morning at 9:00AM before service. The group is led by Deacon Kenneth Gonzalez. The group takes turns praying out loud for any requests it has received, personal matters they are aware of, and current social and political events.

We encourage you to join the group and pray along. There is no obligation to pray out loud, you are more than welcome to just be present and pray silently in your head.

>> The group typically prays for 15 minutes then returns to the Sanctuary for the start of the service

>> Regular prayer helps develope positive habits, a stronger private prayer life, and increases our compassion for others

Please see our “Prayer” page for information on how to submit a prayer request

Sunday School (Adult & Youth)

First Artesia also offers various Sunday morning classes for people interested in receiving additional instruction and information about our theology and tradition. Be sure to check the bulletin for classes available that day, 11:15-11:45am (Both classes).

Adult Sunday School

>> Adult Sunday School meets shortly after morning service ends (around 11:15am) in the Social Hall (room behind the Sanctuary)

>> Our Adult Sunday School is a welcoming, discussion-based class designed to help adults grow in their understanding of Scripture and the Christian faith. This time is centered on open conversation, where participants can ask questions, engage with biblical teaching, and think more deeply about theology, discipleship, and everyday Christian living

>> Each week often includes guided discussion on that morning’s sermon, along with opportunities to explore other theological topics that are relevant to the life of the church. Led by our pastor, this class provides a space for thoughtful Q&A, deeper reflection on biblical truth, and meaningful interaction with others in the congregation

>> Whether you’re new to the church or have been attending for years, Adult Sunday School is a great opportunity for Bible study, spiritual growth, and engaging the Christian faith in a more personal and practical way

Youth Sunday School

>> Youth Sunday School also meets shortly after morning service on the 2nd floor of the FAC. Youth Sunday School provides a joyful and engaging environment where young Christians learn about Jesus Christ, the Bible, and the foundations of the Christian faith in an age-appropriate way. Through lessons, discussion, and activities, children are introduced to key biblical truths and encouraged to grow in their knowledge and love of God

>> In addition to learning Bible stories and core teachings, students are gradually introduced to the historic creeds and confessions of the Christian Reformed Church, including the Apostles' Creed and the Heidelberg Catechism.

These help provide a simple and meaningful framework for understanding what we believe and why

>> Our goal is to partner with families in Christian education, helping children build a strong foundation in biblical truth, grow in their faith, and begin to see how the gospel shapes every part of life

11:15-11:45am (Both classes)

New Member Class

The New Members' class is led by Pastor John and is a 6 week course designed for those who are exploring membership or want to better understand the foundations of the Christian faith. This class provides a clear and accessible introduction to biblical teaching, core Christian beliefs, and the distinctives of the Reformed tradition.

>> Typically, throughout the course, participants will learn what our church believes, why we believe it, and how those convictions shape our worship, community, and daily lives. The goal is not only to inform, but to help prospective members thoughtfully and confidently affirm our teachings and joyfully commit to the life and leadership of the church

>> Whether you are new to Christianity, coming from another church background, or simply looking for clarity, this class is an important step toward church membership, spiritual growth, and deeper involvement in the body of Christ

Check the church bulletin to find out when classes are held. They typically are held at the same time as Adult Sunday School.

Catechism Class

When we don’t have a New Members' Class, we offer a Catechism Class hosted by Pastor John. Our Catechism Class is a rich in-depth study of the Heidelberg Catechism, one of the most beloved summaries of the Christian faith in the Reformed tradition. This class is open to both new members and current members who want to grow in their understanding of Reformed theology and biblical doctrine.

Together, we walk through the catechism’s teaching on topics such as sin, salvation, grace, the sacraments, and the Christian life; carefully examining how each point is grounded in Scripture. This class is designed not just to teach doctrine, but to deepen faith, strengthen assurance, and encourage a more thoughtful and joyful Christian life.

Whether you are looking for a refresher or a deeper theological foundation, this class is a valuable opportunity for discipleship, theological training, and a clearer understanding of how our beliefs align with God’s Word.

Takes place at the same time as Adult Sunday School.

We'd Love to Meet You This Sunday.

Worship is Every Sunday at 9:30 am & 6:00 pm
