ABOUT FIRST STEPS PRESCHOOL & DAYCARE
At First Artesia our goal is to love the Lord with all our heart which carries over into our preschool children.
We are located on the First Artesia CRC campus and are a licensed preschool who provides services for 2-5 year old children with class times varying from 2,3 or 5 half-days from 9:00 am to noon and 2,3 or 5 full day schedules with hours from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. We observe the local public school holiday schedule.
We hold chapel twice a week and Bible lessons are taught from the Spark Children's Bible and by our amazing staff and Pastor Rob.

ENROLLMENT
ELIGIBILITY
Children who are at least 2 years old and are almost toilet trained are eligible for our program. We offer special pricing for all students in the 2 & 3 year old class (Green Room) who may/may not require toilet training. It is effective for the entire school year, even if the student becomes toilet trained, as higher staff ratios are maintained. Children who are fully toilet trained may enter the 3 & 4 year old (Yellow Room) class. Our program is open to all children of the community. We welcome children of all races, religions, and national origins!

What ages do you serve?
Children who are at least 2 years old and are almost toilet trained are eligible for our program through the age of 5.
What are the hours?
Our 1/2 day programs run from 9:00 am to noon. Our full day programs are open from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm
Does my child have to attend everyday?
We offer both 1/2 and full day options for 2 days, 3 days or 5 days a week. The choice of frequency is up to you and your family's needs.
How much does it cost?
We offer a variety of options on hours and number of days attended so the cost will vary based on what you choose but we do have a pricing sheet up above.
Do you offer sibling discounts?
We do not offer sibling discounts but works with Children's Home Society to help families with daycare tuition if they qualify for
assistance.
Do you feed my child?
First Steps is a low to no sugar given school We provide the children with nutritious morning and afternoon snacks. Parents of children attending the full-day program need to provide their children with daily lunch. We do have microwaves in the classroom to heat lunch if needed.
My child has allergies. Can you accommodate her?
Parents are asked to provide their child with a lunch. We provide a monthly snack schedule so please let us know if your child has allergies and we will provide an alternate option.
HISTORY OF OUR PRESCHOOL
In the late 1990s, First Steps Preschool was founded after Carol Goudzwaard, the wife of then-Pastor Ron Goudzwaard, presented the idea. Carol’s love for little children served as the inspiration for the formation of preschool. After renovating and decorating the classrooms in our Education Wing, the school officially opened in November 1999. The school’s goal and mission was to provide Christ-centered early childhood education while being safe, nurturing, and rooted in Christian faith.
After seeing enrollment increase, the school became full time in January 2000 and by 2010, the school saw much success and growth under the leadership of Lois Rietkrek, the school’s first director. The school developed an excellent reputation within the community for its successful early childhood development.
Today, First Steps Preschool continues to be a high quality preschool that helps children grow and learn, and most importantly teaches them who Jesus is and that He loves them!
