Upcoming Events

September 13- Kick-Off Day / All-Church Potluck

With the start of the new school year, many ministries at First Artesia are starting up again after being on break for the summer. Join us for morning service as we ring in the start of a new season of ministry!

New members and regular attenders are encouraged to attend to learn more about the different ministries and standing committees at First Artesia, and to find out how you can get involved in the life of the church and serve your fellow brothers and sisters!

To welcome you to our church family, we are hosting a potluck after morning service. Church members are asked to bring a delicious dish to share with their church family and to welcome our new members! First Artesia will provide bread rolls, drinks, and dessert.

September 18 - Greater Los Angeles Young Adult Mixer

Calling all young adults!

We're partnering with our sister CRC churches in classis GLA for a regional night of fellowship. Dinner and drinks will be provided, all you need to bring is yourself (and a friend)!

This is a great opportunity to fellowship and bond with our fellow Christian Reformed family and remind ourselves that Christ's Church extends beyond our individual congregations.

This event will take place at New City Church at 1228 E Street, Long Beach, CA from 6pm to 8pm.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Saturday before Easter, we host our Annual Easter Egg Hunt. We invite families from the community to join us for a morning of fun and prizes!

It’s a great opportunity for the community to see the church in action, meet our members, and learn about our Lord Jesus Christ. The event includes an Easter Egg Hunt, games, prizes, and story time with Pastor John where he teaches the children (and their parents) the true meaning of Easter: the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and His victory over sin!

The event is free to attend for all members our community.

Bible Basketball Camp

Each June, we host our Annual Bible Basketball Camp. The camp is a week long experience taking place in the evening.

Children spend the week learning important basketball skills like: shooting, dribbling, and passing. They also learn sportsmanship traits such as: sharing, friendship, and fairness. Most importantly, the children spend time learning about Jesus Christ and moral lessons of the Bible!

The camp is free to join, and we highly encourage parents to stay and watch their children have fun and learn important skills and lessons! Refreshments are provided.

Pastor Appreciation Potluck

October is designated as Pastor Appreciation Month. In order to show our appreciation for the hard work our pastors do in tending to the congregation, we hold a potluck luncheon after one of the Sunday services in October.

Members are encouraged to bring their favorite dish or side to share with the congregation.

Reformed Theology Conference

Around Reformation Day (October 31), First Artesia, in partnership with other local CRCs such as Trinity, Anaheim, and Fountain of Life, hosts a Reformed Theology Conference.

Every year, the conference focuses on different theological topic (such as what does it mean to be Reformed, or the importance of creeds and confessions) in order to educate conference goers on what the Reformed faith has to say about different topics, and how those lessons can help us be better Christians and shape society.

The lead pastor of each church teaches a session on a particular subject within the main theme, and at the end, there is a Q&A for attendees to dive deeper in subjects that interested them most.

Reformation Day marks the anniversary of when Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of his church, marking the start of the Protestant Reformation, from which our church has its roots. Past conference recordings are posted on our YouTube channel for your enjoyment!

All-Church Christmas Dinner

Each December, we host an All-Church Christmas Dinner to ring in the Christmas season. The night includes a catered dinner, games, and prizes.

The evening is full of fun, fellowship, and Christmas joy as we remember the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ, who dwelt among His people in order to save them from sin.

We end the night in song, and light candles in the parking lot as we sing the famous Christmas hymn “Silent Night”.

Because this event is catered, we politely ask anyone planning on attending to RSVP to ensure accurate food orders.
